Balla András

Conceptualism and the sensual viewpoint are present simultaneously in the art of András Balla (1945) regardless of whether he is creating a picture of an abstract structure, a landscape or a human figure. He is a full-blown member of the imaginary society of both classical and progressive photographers. Balla has a synthesizing artistic attitude and he pursues his art management activities with the same synthesizing intentions. And yet he likes to regard himself as a naïve artist. On the one hand this refers to Balla being self-taught, but on the other it indicates the “unruly”, rambling artistic attitude. It is not false modesty, but rather the self-reflections of a man approaching art (also) with the freedom of the outsider.
