János Aknay’s (1949) holy trinity firstly, the inlaid, structural building-sceneries, walking in dreams, bathed in heavenly lights, and dipped in memories of His Szentendre; then, through his ethereal angel- and man-icons, his sort-of icons; and finally, through his Christs, saints, and Gospel stories, it oscillates to become a sacred whole in a style infinitely rich, ultramodern and at the same time die-hard conservative. Thus is his pictorial universe like a perfect animation, a silent movie of soul-filled stills flashing in front of our eyes.
