László Pirk’s (1953) painting seeks wholeness; it can be aptly characterised by such attributes as transcendental, sacral, galactic and cosmic. All of these terms, which refer to the infinite dimensions of his approach and vision, are grounded in the same experience: that of nature. Through palpating and experiencing nature through his senses, he has come to intuit an archaic conception of the world, which reveals a kinship between his body of work and the oeuvres of 20th-century artists who came to see the world as a unified whole.
